There’s a time when you have to say enough is enough, and we are well past that point with the complete and total lack of effective leadership in the TSA, and/or the department of Homeland Security.  The United States of America deserves, and as a citizen I DEMAND that the government get a clue, and actually take some action to ensure the safety of the American people.  When a person is reported not once, but twice as an imminent threat, when they are put on not one but two terror watch lists, how the #@!$!* does this same person with known ties to terrorist groups get on board and international flight with more than enough explosives to destroy the plane mid-flight?  Incompetence, and a complete lack of effective leadership, that’s how.

How do we justify letting the CIA ignore repeated warnings, how do we justify an airport screening system that is so broken it spends tens of millions of dollars on useless policies, confiscating untold millions of “banned items” that even Macgyver would find useless, how can we justify pulling people aside for random screenings, when each and every terrorism expert you talk to says that its a waste of resources, you can’t.  The most effective way to stop terrorism is to stop terrorists, sounds stupefyingly simple doesn’t it, but what I mean is you look for terrorist, not fingernail clippers.  You don’t concentrate on looking for banned items, you concentrate on looking for people who pose a threat.  Until this administration can get this through their heads, they are wasting out time and our money.  After what has to be the most egregious laps in security since 9/11, it is unforgivable that President Obama would stand in front of the American people and not hold those responsible, accountable.  The US homeland security secretary, Janet Napolitano should be fired, the CIA cheif Leon E. Panetta should be fired, and more I’m sure.  Mr. President, you promised that you would hold people accountable if they failed to preform their duties at the highest level, take immediate action to hold those who failed to lead responsible, or allow the American people to see you as a Liar who does not hold our safety as an important part of your JOB.

While president Obama was out of the country, a sinister and more dangerous plan than any posed in the past 3 administrations was brought to the forefront. Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced drastic cuts in defense spending and plans to scrap of significantly reduce key defense systems used by the United States military to secure our country from attack. While many of the cuts have been called reckless, none has produces as much media attention as the idea of cutting back Americas premier air dominance fighter the F-22 Raptor.

With the fleet of existing F-15 showing signs of imminent obsolescence not only from a technological standpoint, but also from a purely structural standpoint, we cannot allow our position as the leader in air superiority to fade into the past. The proposes plan is to limit to total run of F-22 fighters to about 187, far short of the already reduced 250 or so the Air Force has said it needs to have adequate defense of America. In place of a fighter already in production and active service, Gates is proposing that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter orders be upped to 30 units as it goes through initial trials and testing. Lets be clear here, the Defense Secretary wants to shut down production of an aircraft that has already been proven works, in place of a plane that while has some promise, has no hopes of ever reaching the performance levels of the F-22, and may in fact never even reach production, leaving tens of thousands of skilled worker without jobs. Someday soon he may wake up and realize that America no longer has the skilled labor required to make the top fighter in the world, and you just can’t decide to start again, when all the people you need are gone.

It is unimaginable short sighted and dangerous, to allow America to fade into just another country with just another Air Force.
