News on your Amazon Kindle being sucky, and your story telling narcissism

The news this week is about how some schools seem to think that the Amazon Kindle is a bad tech device because its not able to be setup to read aloud to you if you are blind because that initial setup requires navigating through onscreen menues that do not initially read themselved to you. As oppossed to all those other tech devices they think are just fine, like all the computers (which do not come pre-set to be accessable to the blind) and of course the standard paper books, which have absolutely no provision to read themselves to you. I also cover a science story on why you can remember great jokes and stories…but not who you told them to. Could it be that your too concerned about how your coming off to others to be bothered remembering who they are?

There comes a time when you just have to laugh at the complete lunacy of  some of the things we have to deal with on an every day basis.  Hot dogs come in 10’s but the buns come in 8’s,  Turn signals make it harder to change lanes, and of course, you cant talk about [...]

There is a definite disconect  between the music industry and many of its fans, and this is not big news.  What is news is the amazingly inept ways in which old bands and old media try to become hip and cool, come up with a pretty good idea…yet still manage to find the songle most [...]

Everyone has a run in with the law at some point.  Maybe its you being naughty, maybe its your neighbor being loud, or just possibly you need some help, and the person that comes to your aid, is a public servant who far too often gets associates with being the harbinger of doom…ok maybe not [...]

It happens…not very often when you consider there are hundreds of millions of them out there, but it is a real fact that lithium batteries can go bad.  I don’t mean they start pushing over cows, robbing liquor stores and writing bad checks, but they can go bad, and especially if damages (lets say by [...]

If you havn’t heard yet, theres one good reason to keep those seat belts fassened on a comercial airliner.  This week we find out about a gaping hole that opened up 45 minutes into a domestic flight here in the United States, and while no one was hurt, rumours abound about a sudden and dramatic [...]

You see them at little league games, you see them at high school gymnasiums and football fields…even in college and your professional team sports they are there, cheer leaders.  But what you didn’t know is that behind the glory, just beyond the poof of the plastic strips of pom pom fluff, there was danger.  When [...]

Every once in a while, someone with true appreciation and understanding comes along.  A person who sees the reality of life, and the need for rules.  A human who has a keen awareness of the meaning of commitment and responsibility.  Unfortunately, this person is usually drowned out by the whines and complaints of the clamoring [...]

It takes a little bit of convincing to get me to move to a new operating system.  Microsoft fail compeltely to get me to commit to Vista on two fronts, it wasn’t a good upgrade (as in it offered absolutely NOTHING to me) and it cost way too much.  The new Windows 7 is looking [...]

There’s a good mix of news stories this week, from HD-DVD to DMCA takedowns.  But the real question of thes week is did you ever drive one of these craptastic vehicles listed on the worst vehicles of the 1970’s?  Sure I touch on keeping your memory sharp as you get older, and yes I even [...]
